
Art as a means to be present.
Over the years, I’ve tried to find moments when I can truly be present, through field sketching. I appreciate the challenge of capturing a sense of place with limited materials, and limited time. I haven’t always had an easy relationship with my sketchbook, as I tend to want to control and tweak and perfect, but I am happy for the memories I have created, and want to keep practicing. All sketches are either graphite, pen, watercolor or a mix of all three on paper.
